1. Season 5, Episode 8

I'm calling it. Season 5, Episode 8 is the single greatest episode in Game Of Thrones history. I'm willing to hear any alternatives, but for me, no episode comes close to matching the stunning visuals, epic scale, intense action, intriguing side plots, and quality dialogue all in one. Tyrion's trial, The Red Wedding and The Battle of Blackwater Bay are three standout scenes from the entire series, but the multiple plotlines in Hardhome are all handled superbly, ensuring the whole package is top class. You have a despairing Cersei in the dungeons, Arya out on a mission exploring the colourful Braavos, Reek revealing to Sansa that he didn't kill Bran and Rickon, some immense scenes between Daenerys and Tyrion (Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage are superb in them) and of course, the whole thing is wrapped up with one of the most cinematic TV sequences we've ever seen. That shot of the Night's King while Jon escapes on the boat is truly haunting. The White Walkers are coming, and if S5 E8 is anything to go by, they mean business...
