10 Best Hannibal Episodes
3. Tome-wan
Outside of Hannibal, Mason Verger might just be the most famous villain in all of Hannibal history. He's also one of the few characters in the show who has the honour of saying he very nearly snapped at Hannibal's irritation.
Whilst a lot of the twelfth episode in season two is donated to Will's imagining of how he would kill Hannibal and the hunt for some evidence that could convict the serial cannibal, the best scenes here are the ones that show just how asking for it Mason is.
From sitting in Hannibal's own seat during his therapy, stabbing at his fine leather chairs with a knife, or trying to feed him alive to his personal collection of pigs, Mason earns himself a particularly grim fate during the run of Tome-wan.
Having been freed from his pig dilemma by Will, Hannibal is shown strapping a mask on Mason and telling him to show him how his father used to test the length of a pig's skin. When Will returns home that night, he finds Mason happily slicing off pieces of his own face and feeding them to his dogs. It's a truly grim fate for an admittedly slimy character.
Still, seeing a new take on the character first brought to life on the big screen by Gary Oldman is always a win.
