6. Reality Z

Reality Z began with an announcement from the legendary Charlie Brooker at the 2019 Rio Creative Conference back in April of that year, and was eventually released by Netflix on June 10, 2020.

The show revolves around the successful, albeit fictional, Brazilian reality show Olympus, which is interrupted by a zombie apocalypse breaking out across the city of Rio de Janiero. All of the show's stars and production crew are trapped on the set, though they are led in a desperate fightback by the Nina, Olympus' production runner and portrayed by Ana Hartmann.

Reality Z is almost exclusively based around the British television miniseries Dead Set, created and written by Brooker, but was rewritten by Claudio Torres and Joao Costa. Both Dead Set and Reality Z are influenced by the success of reality television shows in mainstream society, utilising clever dialogue that almost give the shows a feeling of satire to them.

There are ten episodes in the first season available to watch on Netflix, and the Brooker-patented tone of Black Mirror and similar shows are more than present here with Reality Z.

Horror fan, gamer, all round subpar content creator. Strongly believes that Toad is the real hero of the Mario universe, and that we've probably had enough Batman origin stories.
