10 Best Horror TV Shows Of 2020
5. Lovecraft Country
Lovecraft Country was developed by Misha Green and serves as a continuation of the Matt Ruff's 2016 novel of the same name.
Though the bulk of filming was completed over the course of July 2018, the ten-part first season was released by HBO on August 16, 2020. The show follows a young black man named Atticus Freeman, a Korean War veteran who embarks on a road trip with his friend Letitia and his uncle George across the United States of America during the Jim Crow era.
The show handles the issues of race relations and conveys the terrors of a racist White America in both a harrowing and powerful way, and whilst Lovecraft Country does boast an impressive array of terrifying monsters and baddies, it's the horrors of history that should turn an audience's stomach.
Lovecraft Country is, in many ways, all about the battle of surviving. Surviving the horrors of the time, the obstacles and dangers that come with the show's setting is certainly one thing, however the show also finds the time to throw in plenty of true horror scares for the crew to overcome.
