10 Best Horror TV Shows Of 2024
4. Generation Z
British horror legend Ben Wheatley (Kill List, Sightseers) returns to the small screen with his latest project, Generation Z.
The comedy-horror miniseries takes place in the fictional town of Dambury, where an army truck overturns and causes the elderly residents of a care home to become infected with a noxious chemical. This turns them into rabid zombies who regain their sense of vitality and are subsequently all-too-eager to chow down on the town's younger populace.
It goes without saying that Wheatley's series, which he fully wrote and directed all six episodes of, isn't much for subtlety, taking dead-obvious jabs at Brexit and COVID amid its wider examination of generational warfare. But it's gory and funny, while benefitting from a terrifically talented ensemble cast. Sure, it's hardly Wheatley's finest work as a filmmaker, but Generation Z nevertheless clips along at a decent pace and brings both the thrills and chuckles thick and fast.
