1. Rickety Cricket
It couldn't have been anyone else. Cricket is so integral that he could arguably even be a member of the main cast, and no one would question it. The former priest Matthew Mara is the perfect embodiment of the impact that The Gang have on those around them. His constant presence shows how their antics create monsters out of men, but throughout all of the horrors he has gone through, Rickety Cricket has always been loveable.
Cricket has the worst life imaginable in Philadelphia, and the show has no problem making that abundantly clear. They display the shocking way that he lives in extreme detail, and the depths of his despair is only made funnier by how strangely at home he seems to be with his place in the universe.
After losing his faith in God when Dee convinces him to quit the priesthood for her and then rejects him, his life became worse and worse. He is not even recognisable as the man that he once was, with scars, dirt, and mental scarring combined his transformation is the shows greatest accomplishment.
This character could only exist in a series like this, and David Hornsby plays him to perfection. Hornsby is also a writer for Always Sunny, and it's clear how much passion he has for the series.
