10 Best Legend Of Korra Moments

The moments that make Korra a worthy successor to one of the greatest shows ever.

Making a sequel to a TV show is a herculean task. Making one to a show that many people consider to be utterly stone cold perfect like Avatar The Last Airbender? Yeah, good luck with that, bucko.

And yet, contrary to the nay-saying of your usual angry pitch-fork wielding internet folk, Avatar: The Legend of Korra absolutely nailed it. Sure, it had some trouble due to Nickelodeon being one of the worst run networks in all of television, and them firing Last Airbender showrunner Aaron Ehasz was definitely a problem for the show.

But creators Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko kept it afloat through those initial stumbling blocks, and then helped it soar arguably even higher than Last Airbender in its latter years.

Just like we did with The Last Airbender, here are the best moments from its more than worthy successor. The moments that made Legend of Korra one of the absolute best animated dramas ever made, one of the best Nickelodeon shows ever, and all around one of the greatest television shows out there.

10. Bolin Lavabends - Enter The Void

Legend of Korra
Nickelodeon Animation Studio

Lavabending was one of those bending styles we mostly just thought would be exclusive to the avatar. It is, after all, basically a mix of fire and earthbending. So when season 3 of Korra rolled around and showcased one of the main villains lavabending with ease, it was a shock to say the least. Even more shocking was when Bolin pulled it off.

Bolin had been spending the entire season trying and failing miserably to learn metalbending, eventually concluding for himself that he had no special talents like his brother did with bending lightning. But of course, he DID have that special talent, he was just looking in the wrong place.

But nothing like being trapped in a tunnel with a river of lava chasing behind you to get you nice and motivated!

In a finale that many people consider to be a pretty big downer - at least if you're the main heroine - Bolin discovering this power he had all along but needed the right motivation to gain was powerful stuff to say the least.
