10 Best Minor Stargate SG-1 Characters

Back up a moment, you're about complain that your encyclopaedic knowledge of the Stargate franchise means you know that Richard Woolsey was a starring character on Stargate Atlantis! Only for the fifth season, of course, but it still counts. But we're not talking about Stargate Atlantis here, are we? We're talking about SG-1.

Richard Woolsey (played by Star Trek Voyager veteran Robert Picardo) first cropped up in the brutally painful episode Heroes Part 2. He was there to probe the members of the SGC over a most pivotal death amongst their ranks and did not ingratiate himself well with them. He was a hard-nosed lawyer who wasn't there to make friends.

As time went on, Woolsey's infrequent appearances made him a slightly more likeable, if firm, character whose capabilities were challenged several times. Each time, he managed to be a slightly changed man, his priorities shifted until he was ready to be a welcome face around the SGC and then it's sister in Atlantis. Towards the end of the franchise, he'd often become the centre of humorous instances, which is a world away from the hard-faced man who first stared across a desk at Jack, Sam, Daniel and Teal'c.

While any show is defined by it's central characters, it's the smaller ones that can make or break it. Stargate SG-1 had so many to choose from that it's tough just to pick 10, maybe someday we'll get to see a few of them again, in some form or another.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
