Based on the video game series of the same name, Castlevania follows the journey of seasoned vampire hunter Trevor Belmont as he teams up with the son of Dracula and a powerful mage to fight the demonic plague threatening to devour the whole world.
Video game adaptions have had a poor history over the years, with very few coming even close to watchable. Castlevania is a much welcomed change of pace. From its fantastically realised world to its flawed yet lovable characters, the series nails every single thing it sets out to do. This is especially true in regards to its animation. The show is absolutely gorgeous to look at, with incredibly fluid fight scenes, gorgeous scenery, and high quality lighting.
You'll find yourself lost within the world of Castlevania, never sure who to root for or against. Its complex handling of morality is almost scarily impressive. There isn't one sore spot in the series, making for a macabre masterpiece worth watching over and over again.
