10 Best One Time Only Characters In Batman: The Animated Series

2. Fake Harley

Calendar Girl Batman
Warner Bros.

Harley Quinn is one of the major characters that the show introduced into Batman's world, a fact that is often easily forgotten given her massive modern-day popularity. However, even The Joker once decided that it was time for a change when it proved far too expensive for him to secure her release from Arkham Asylum.

In Joker's Millions, The Joker inherits an apparent fortune, awkwardly inserts himself into Gotham's high society, and holds interviews for a "Fake Harley". Discovering a new sidekick in a buxom woman who looks almost identical to Harley Quinn, The Joker hires her on the spot, only to discover that she has a sharp, shrill voice, and a fraction of the real Harley's IQ. The results are hilarious! Fake Harley refers to The Joker as "Mr G", has a terrible laugh, and is duped by The Joker into contributing to his nefarious schemes. Rest assured, however, that the real Harley Quinn is not far away.

Maggie Wheeler is excellent as Fake Harley, hitting all the right notes in annoying The Joker. The punchline, of course, is that she is a complete innocent, so much so that The Joker even tries to shoot her!

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
