4. Mr Jones (Season 5 - Episode 6)
Tommy is crumbling at the edges, Arthur is on the fast train to nuttersville and Oswald Mosley is getting stronger and stronger by the minute.
Not only does season five represent a real failure for Tommy, but also exposes his vulnerabilities. He is unable to see out his plan to kill Mosley, Aberama Gold is killed by an unknown assailant, and Tommy starts to fall apart properly by the final scene.
However, more than just your standard plot to kill an MP, Tommy pays a visit to an old advisory and friend who was thought to be dead - the one and only Alfie Solomons. Hardy's return to the series was not only iconic but knowing Steven Knight, it's also for a reason that has not yet been realised.
So, whatever is planned for the 6th series and the movie (in a clear heads up to Community fans) it involves the fearsome Jewish gang leader.
It was thrilling to see Tommy finally fail and watch as his plans went down in flames, it was so unexpected to witness, but unmissable at the same time. With him raging that Mosley knew nothing of the assassination and the visions of Grace getting worse, as she tells him to come and join her, Tommy walks off into the smoke with a gun to his head.
