10 Best Performances In Buffy The Vampire Slayer

5. Emma Caulfield - Anya Jenkins/Anyanka

Drusilla Buffy
Mutant Enemy Productions

Emma Caulfield proved to be a big surprise to the world of Buffy. Starting life on the show as a villain, presented as a monster of the week and orchestrastor of the epic "The Wish" timeline, Anya found her powers destroyed and her immortality stripped. She then appeared periodically through the rest of Season Three and much of Season Four before becoming a main character for the rest of the show.

Caulfield was great a villain, but once Anyanka was rendered powerless she really came into her own with the role. Anya is socially inept and unafraid to speak her mind. This often leads to a lot of laughs and her comedic timing is perfect. Also, Caulfield's chemistry with Nicholas Brendan was also great to see, adding a layer of caring and virtue to the former demon.

Her best performances on the show belong to the episodes "Selfless", where she reverts back to her evil ways, "Once More with Feeling", where she proves to be a great singer, "The Body", where she gives a beautiful speech about the stupidity of mortality.

Anya may be dead (sorry), but thanks to Caulfield she'll live forever as one of the show's best performed characters.
