10 Best Performances In Game Of Thrones
7. Emilia Clarke - Daenerys Targaryen
Emilia Clarke was never bad in this role, Daenerys is a fan favourite character for a reason and a lot of it is down to her performance. That being said, she makes this list almost entirely for her work on the final season. Daenerys was the closest thing to a female lead the show had and even before that became more apparent, she was heading up a storyline that was completely cut off from literally every other character on the show. That's a tough task.
Like many on Thrones, Clarke was fresh out of drama school and a daunting opportunity like this must've been challenging. When you add in her truly terrifying health scares that occurred around the first few seasons, re-watching her earlier work makes you appreciate it even more.
But, it is Season Eight that gave Clarke her most difficult material to work with on the show. Despite what people think about the divisive final season, Clarke has been unanimously praised for her work as she should have been. Juggling so much from the resentment of the North, to her unrequited feelings for her nephew who is a threat to her claim, to betrayal and death of those closest to her. All leading up to the now infamous decision to burn King's Landing to ashes.
Emilia Clarke carries the final season on her shoulders and she absolutely nails everything that is asked of her.
