Falling Skies is a post-apocalyptic series that was executive produced by none other than Steven Spielberg. The series ran on TNT from June 2011 until August 2015 for a total of 52 episodes. Fortunately, the show came to a natural conclusion and wasn't prematurely canceled before it could finish.

The series is set six months after the world was invaded by aliens, who were able to completely neutralize the world's power grids, technology, and militaries in a matter of days. More than 90% of humanity was killed soon after, and all the world's major cities were destroyed within a matter of days.

The survivors are left to fight for their planet, and the central figure in that fight is Noah Wyle's Tom Mason, a history professor-turned resistance fighter, and eventual savior of humanity. The aliens, setting, and characters of Falling Skies introduced a world of terror and possibilities, which played out across the series' five seasons.

Falling Skies was widely acclaimed by critics, and it maintained a hardcore fanbase from beginning to end. The world of Falling Skies expanded into comic books and video games, but the show was the main attraction, and it stands as one of the best post-apocalyptic television series ever aired.
