Promortyus is Rick and Morty's way of paying their respects to the Alien film series - with a tiny bit of the brain slugs from Futurama too.

Rick and Morty first realise that something bad has happened once their face-huggers have come off because of an accident, which then leads to them discovering that there is an entire civilisation of these huggers planning to invade other planets. They then take to Rick's ship to level the entire civilisation and end up going full Death Star destruction on them.

As the episode unfolds backwards, they realise that they left Summer behind and must go back for her. When they do, they see that because of a toothpick she is now revered as a queen on the alien world.

As 'punishment', she sentences them to get back in their ship and leave with her going with them, that is until the race realise that she is trying to leave and become hostile. Once again, Rick and Morty all but destroy the race as they fly away.
