At some point, Rick and Morty were bound to end up in an Avengers/Justice League themed episode. What was immediately hilarious was that they were already a part of the spoof team - it was that the first and second assembling had never been shown on-screen.

As Morty gets one mission choice of every ten, he chooses to answer the call of The Vindicators and re-assemble to defeat their arch-enemy, Worldender. Predictably, Rick hates the team and despises all members involved. Though, he does end up going along on the mission, but not before getting black-out drunk.

So, with the team assembled and all the clichéd characters involved, they soon learn that Rick has defeated Worldender, the night before and trapped the heroes in his own version of Saw.

As the team slowly unravel and die, because of their insecurities, as well as some deadly apparatus, they are all forced to confront the notion that they are essentially a team of idiots.

The never-ending stream of jokes that mock superhero films are almost all bullseyes in this brilliant skewering of the last 20-years of blockbuster cinema. However, the gold star has to go to Christian Slater's Vance Maximus Renegade Starsoldier, the leader of the team and first to die a hilariously gruesome death.
