Many seasons of American Horror Story have seen the actors play a variety of parts, as the anthology style takes us across different themes in each series. Season 4 AHS: Freakshow aired in 2014, following the story of a failed circus filled with a range of 'curiosities' looking to make a living by becoming the best acts, whilst struggling with being outcast from normal society for their differences.

Paulson plays conjoined twins Dot and Bette Tattler, who want different things for their own lives as they join the circus for their own reasons- Bette wishes to become a famous singer whilst Dot is stern and craves to stay away from the limelight and protect her unit.

For filming scenes, Paulson had to recreate each head part whilst being attached to a green figurine on her shoulder before post production edited the two characters together to become conjoined. She gives two varied performances of the twins, whilst showing their togetherness as a sisterhood.

Freak Show was one of the most popular seasons on the show itself, with the actress gaining a large amount of praise for enduring the hard and long working hours to complete the two characters looks on screen.
