10 Best Sci-Fi TV Show Villains
1. Darth Sideous - Star Wars: The Clone Wars)
The last entry is one many sci-fi franchises fans are familiar with. Known simply as the Emperor in the original Star Wars trilogy, Palpatine went on to become the greatest antagonist in the long-running space-opera. In the prequel trilogy we saw his rise to power and eventual destruction of the democratic Galactic Republic.
Yet there was still more room to expand on his character and to fill in the gaps between Episodes II and III, the producers of Star Wars: The Clone Wars made good on this potential.
In the series, Palpatine steals the locations of force-sensitive children across the galaxy and later on, murders Savage Opress and tortures Darth Maul, a high showcase for his underlying power. Voiced by Ian Abercrombie and Tim Curry across the show's seasons, both actors do a great job of channelling Ian McDiarmid's original performance.
His appearances now ring hollow following the release of The Rise of Skywalker last year, but in other properties, Darth Sideous remains a powerfully conniving villain. The Clone Wars only expanded him further, showing how his deceit and trickery played out and built towards the events of Revenge of the Sith.
