10 Best Sci-Fi TV Shows Of 2020

1. Tales From The Loop

Snowpiercer series
Amazon Prime TV

A TV series based upon the work of Swedish science fiction artist Simon Stalenhag is an incredibly ambitious concept, and this Amazon Prime series quickly does justice to the source material. The work of Stalenhag is a haunting, yet beautiful, gaze into a near-future that sees robotic and cosmic technology seep its way into mundanity.

A show based on art needs to be good looking, otherwise there would be no point to it, and thankfully the series delivers. Its cinematography is breath-taking and watching it truly feels like an embodiment of the original images that the show is based upon.

Tales from the Loop is written in an exciting way that plays like a quasi-anthology show, with each episode telling a separate tale but featuring recurring characters and set-ups that keep the world connected, whilst allowing enough separation for each chapter to feel individual.

It also has faith in the audience but doesn't push too much. Eagle-eyed viewers will be rewarded by figuring out clues and hints at larger concepts. In contrast, those who just want a fun escapist sci-fi will be guided through an interesting world that delivers on thrills and thoroughly human narratives.
