10 Best Sci-Fi TV Shows Of The 2010s
9. The Flash
Any of the Arrowverse shows could have featured on this list. From Arrow (2012), Supergirl (2015) and Legends of Tomorrow (2016), the CW superhero multiverse has been a strong force in the TV landscape this past decade. But the pick of the bunch has to be The Flash.
Protagonist Barry Allen first appeared in the second season of Arrow before branching off into his own solo series in 2014. After being hit by lightning, Barry, a crime scene investigator, discovers that he can now move at superhuman speed.
Barry then builds a team of scientists, dons the now iconic red costume and becomes the superhero known as The Flash.
The Flash is the ultimate science-fiction TV show. It includes super powers, alien species, and time travel. The first season of the show, depicting The Flash's rivalry with the infamous Reverse Flash, is one of the best opening seasons of a TV show in quite some time.
However, with the bar set so high, The Flash never reached that same height again. The following seasons, although still solid viewing, became somewhat repetitive as the monster of the week format becomes tired. But you cannot expect much more from a show that consists of 24 episodes per each of its six seasons (thus far).
That being said, The Flash is still one of the best, most exciting sci-fi shows of the past decade. It's fun, charming and offers great twists - but most importantly, it'll bring out your deep childlike joy.
