10 Best Sci-Fi TV Shows Of The 2010s
4. The Boys
The Boys is Amazon Prime's biggest, most popular original series to date. First releasing in 2019, it has already reached a similar status and buzz akin to that of Stranger Things on Netflix. Based on the explicit comic book series from Garth Ennis, The Boys is a violently delightful superhero adaptation.
The show can be seen as a satire to the likes of Marvel and DC, as in this universe the superheroes are the bad guys. The Boys treat superheroes as glorified criminals and corrupt puppets of powerful companies. The show follows Starlight, a young female superhero, who makes into the elite circle of supers known as The Seven.
An analog to DC's Justice League, The Seven are quite the opposite as they have no qualms when it comes to murdering innocent civilians for their own gain.
On the flip side, The Boys are a group of underground vigilantes who will do all they can to assassinate superheroes.
For those burnt out by the overwhelming flurry of Marvel and DC films, The Boys is the perfect antidote. The show mocks the fairy tale illusion of superheroes as it includes a whole lot of blood, swearing and sex.
