Perhaps one of the most influential TV shows of all time, anime classic Cowboy Bebop is must watch viewing. If you've never dabbled in the frantic world of Japanese anime, then do not fear, because Cowboy Bebop also happens to be the most easily accessible starting point for Western audiences, with an easy twenty-six episodes.

It has action, witty humour, a stellar soundtrack, and some of the most imaginative and clever self-contained episodes ever. Once finished, it's easy to see how much modern sci-fi has clearly been influenced by Cowboy Bebop. From Firefly, to Guardians of the Galaxy, and Farscape (a show that almost made this list), 21st century pop culture owes a big thanks to Bebop.

Taking place in the year 2071, the show focuses on the misadventures of bounty hunter duo Spike Spiegel and Jet Black, on board the Bebop spaceship, as they hunt down and cash in on wanted fugitives.

Along the way they reluctantly recruit the seductive Faye Valentine and young IT wiz Edward Wong. Despite a tight batch of episodes, the show takes great care in establishing each character's back story and individual mysteries while also providing fans with delightful moments of fun and action.

A Netflix original adaptation is currently in the works starring John Cho, so there's no time like the present to become a space cowboy and immerse yourself in the original.
