10 Best Sitcom Duos
5. Jake And Boyle - Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Brooklyn Nine-Nine lives and dies by its character interactions, as the relationships between the squad are integral to the comedy and the drama. Out of all the pairings, there are none stronger than Jake and Boyle, as they have each other's backs and share everything.
We've seen plenty of polar opposite friends in sitcom history, but these two go one step beyond that. Jake and Boyle aren't complete opposites; instead, they're just two people who seem out of synch with each other. One is a goofy man child, and the other is a slightly gross but well-meaning food fanatic. It's a pairing you wouldn't think would work, but it totally does.
Part of what makes them work so well (besides their hilarious differences) is that they challenge each other. Jake is always willing to point out Boyle's miscommunications and emotional problems, and Boyle will constantly be the voice of reason for Peralta, both in his work and personal life.
On paper, they seem like they'd never get on well, but in execution, they are the best of friends.
