A long time coming, the episode featured a brutal fight between Rick and Shane that ultimately served to show how far Shane had fallen, willing to resort to brutally murdering his own best friend, and even allowed Shane to see via his reflection in broken glass that he himself was, perhaps, not that much different from the dangerously instinctual walkers.

As the episode closes out, Shane sits in silence on the drive back to Hershel's farm, watching out the window as Wye Oak's song plays over the moment.
