10 Best Star Trek Characters Only In One Episode

6. Gary Seven

Out of all of the characters on this list Gary Seven is the only one who was designed to stand out enough to hold his own series. "Assignment Earth" was intended to be the first Star Trek spinoff. A show set on present-day Earth combined the high science fiction of Trek with the then-popular spy genre. Unfortunately, it didn't get picked up.

However, even with the failed backdoor pilot nature of the episode, the very existence of Gary Seven raises so many questions. What became of the organization he works for and the aliens who sent him there? Why didn't they stop World War III and if they still exist why haven't they reached out to the Federation after putting so much time into safeguarding humanity?

That he is still at large in the 20th and presumably 21st centuries makes him a character of infinite fascination for Trekkies. While the character has spawned novels and comics, that nobody has gone back and revisited him on screen in all of these years since the original series is a little strange and more than a little disappointing.

Every time that Star Trek visits a contemporary Earth setting in episodes like "Futures End" and "Carpenter's Street", there is a secret hope among many fans to see Gary Seven again. Because this man feels like he has so many more adventures in him and if Gene Roddenberry had his way he would have. Who are we to say no?

Early Ray Mixon hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
