10 Best Star Wars: The Clone Wars Episodes
1. The Phantom Apprentice (Season 7, Episode 10)
It speaks volumes about Maul as a character that the top three spots all feature him in some way. That being said, as great as he is in The Phantom Apprentice, this is not his episode. Rather, it belongs to Ahsoka, Anakin's former Padawan, sent to Mandalore with Rex to take down the former Sith Lord once and for all.
Maul is seething with anger and hatred throughout the episode, especially once he realises that it's Ahsoka who's come for him and not Obi-Wan. As Rex and his men launch an attack with Maul's Death Watch faction, the two former apprentices duel in the planet's throne room, in one of the greatest duels in the entire Star Wars canon.
Maul tries to flee after a while, but Ahsoka chases him down and manages to apprehend him thanks to some crafty foot work and Rex's blaster skills.
The duel itself would probably be enough to rank The Phantom Apprentice as the best of the show, but it's so much more than that. Ahsoka learns about Sidious and the fact that he's after Anakin, she forms a bond with former Death Watch soldier Bo-Katan, and Maul foreshadows the events of Revenge of the Sith to startling effect.
It's unquestionably untouchable.
