10 Best Superhero TV Shows Of 2018 (So Far)

9. Luke Cage

Legion Season 2
Netflix

Luke Cage returned to Netflix earlier this year for its explosive second season. After clearing his name, the super-powered protagonist found himself dealing with the rise of archenemy Black Mariah. This led to a complex narrative centred around a worthy Big Bad that was anchored by a phenomenal performance from Alfre Woodard (who thrived in the villainous role). Much like its predecessor, it was gritty and managed to entertain for the most part.

With appearances from some familiar faces throughout, including Claire Temple and the Iron Fist himself, this season wastes no time in reminding us just how rich the Marvel/Netflix universe really is. And although it wasn't perfect, it managed to maintain its admirably high standard the whole way through.

Though Luke Cage never quite manages to reach the heights of Netflix’s other Marvel properties Daredevil and Jessica Jones, the show really does deserve a lot more recognition than it actually gets. And Season 2 highlighted this, delivering a thoroughly engaging arc that may even be superior to its debut outing.
