10 Best Supernatural Episodes
3. Mystery Spot
Supernatural has always had a knack for taking tried-and-tested concepts from movies and making them its own, so it's no surprise that the show's Groundhog Day episode ended up being the best thing ever. The hour's central idea is that Sam is trapped in a time-loop, forced to relive the same day over and over again, which restarts every time Dean is killed.
Try as he might, there's no way he can actually save his brother, because if a bullet doesn't kill him, a piano falling from the sky might, or maybe an overeager bite of a taco will be enough to take him out.
Though a lot of the deaths are played for laughs, they all serve to deliver a pretty crushing message: no matter how hard he tries, Sam isn't going to be able to save his brother from the deal he made at the end of Season 2. It's the perfect blend of drama and comedy, absolutely nailing the core concept in a way only Supernatural could.
Oh, and if you're not banging out to Heat of the Moment for a solid week after watching this episode, you're not human.
