This episode from the first season of the Buffy spin-off Angel sees everyone's favourite badass vampire slayer pay a visit to the demon-infested utopia that is Los Angeles. Having characters from Buffy and Angel crop up in other shows from time to time was always a neat idea, but it's used to brilliant effect here. Angel miraculously becomes human after fighting a demon. While this is good news in itself (he can taste cookie dough ice cream for one), it also means that he can finally be with Buffy without turning into Angelus and savagely murdering a main character or two. Hooray! Buffy and Angel spend a blissful day together being a normal boyfriend and girlfriend. Sadly, it can't possibly last as being a regular Joe means Angel is about as useful as a chocolate stake in a fight against vampires and demons. And so Angel arranges with The Powers That Be to be turned back into a vampire. of course, nothing comes without a price: the last 24 hours will be erased for everyone except Angel. He'll be able to remember what he and Buffy shared, but he'll never be able to tell her or anyone else about it. He rushes to tell Buffy what's going to happen, and they embrace desperately as they spend their final few moments together as two human beings. Buffy sobs "I'll never forget" repeatedly in the final seconds, and then we're instantly taken back to the beginning of the episode. Only this time we have a lump in our throat as Buffy walks away and goes back to Sunnydale, not remembering a single thing about her time with Angel.
