10 Best True Crime Documentaries On Netflix

5. I Am A Killer

Arguably the only downside to I Am A Killer is that you'll need a US Netflix account to see it. Currently, it's unavailable in the UK, unless you have a Sky, BT or Virgin TV package and happen to have the Crime & Investigation channel. Even then, you'd have missed the boat by now.

That's a shame, because the show is one of the single best true crime series to ever air.

Interviews are the name of the game here. Death row inmates are quizzed on their crimes, and asked to give their thoughts on why they did what they did. Most make no attempt to cover their tracks, save face or protest their innocence, and the result is some eye-opening insight into detained criminals about to pay the ultimate penalty.

The stories, whilst disturbing and terrifying, are engrossing. Killers like Kenneth Foster, Charles Victor Thompson (who contributes to the 'Between The Bars' blog from solitary confinement on death row) and Wayne Doty go under the microscope, amongst others, in the series 10 episodes. If you can find it, or whenever Netflix bring it to the UK, it's a must-watch.
