10 Best TV Characters Who You Never Actually Got To See
8. Father Bigley - Father Ted
"Exactly like Father Bigley". Here's a word of advice, don't be like Father Bigley.
Father Ted is a blissful - and obviously hilarious - look into a side of comedy that doesn't get played around with too much. The goofiness of these Irish priests living on Craggy Island was a godsend, and one of the funniest aspects was the references to other priests.
The show was dripping with fellow wearers of the cloth beside the beloved Ted, Dougal and Jack. Still, while plenty of them got a chance to show their faces on screen, the dreaded Father Bigley never did. Although, with the descriptions given of him, that might have been for the best.
Described as having a blotchy face with puffy fish lips - possibly due to a tea kettle explosion - this priest is a somewhat recurring topic of discussion between Dougal and Ted. He's referenced to have performed at OJ Simpson's wedding, had friends who sent arms to Iraq and even ended up in a home thanks to his obsession with starting fires.
The idea of a debaucherous and slightly mad priest is utterly hilarious, and the fact he's described as something so monstrous, without ever being seen, makes it all the funnier.
