10 Best TV Episodes Set In Just One Room

9. Rick And Morty - Rixty Minutes

Community NBC
Adult Swim

One of the most iconic and beloved Rick and Morty episodes isn't an explosive galactic adventure, but a series of surreal improvised sketches taking place right at home on Rick and Morty's TV. Rick fits the family television with an interdimensional cable box, expanding their selection of channels to include shows from any number of alternate realities.

The premise is amusing, but what really sells the episode is the hilariously absurd improvised TV shows themselves. There's the mean-spirited Garfield parody Gazorpazorpfield, the mind-bending commercial for Real Fake Doors, and best of all the brilliant trailer for increasingly outlandish action film "Alien Invasion Tomato Monster Mexican Armada Brothers Who Are Just Regular Brothers Running In A Van From An Asteroid And All Sorts Of Things: The Movie."

The plethora of bewildering shows and commercials are made made even funnier thanks to wry fourth-wall breaking remarks from Rick ("it's got an almost improvisational tone"), making for one of the most quotable episodes of the show.

Future episodes with a similar premise such as Season 2's Interdimensional Cable II: Tempting Fate sadly wouldn't quite capture the brilliance of Rixty Minutes, as they strayed too far from the bottle episode format that makes it work so well, with the cosy domesticity of Rick and Morty's living room making their TV's bizarre programming really stand out.
