10 Best TV Redemption Arcs Of All Time
4. Jamie Lannister - Game Of Thrones
Theon Greyjoy wasn't the only character in Westeros who learned how to be better.
The former Kingsguard and Lannister royal, Jamie, was a vital piece of the Game of Thrones puzzle. He was a big part of the show's conflict, as his relationship with his sister bred the civil war that plagued the land. However, while he started out playing up to this villainous side, viewers came to eventually realise that underneath the façade was a decent man waiting to get out.
Part of what makes Jamie's transition to the good side so stunning was the fact that it wasn't bred from tragedy. While many characters turn to the light because of a realisation that their trauma shouldn't control them, Jamie instead did it out of love. His dynamic with Brienne, his conflictions over his family legacy and his self-identity led to him departing the side of wrong and becoming a good man.
Many people do take issue with his story's ending, and rightly so as it was a massive disappointment. Still, his redemption remained intact despite his choice to return to Cersei, as he made the decision with the right frame of mind and chose to be with the woman he loved, whilst still maintaining the lessons he'd learned.
"We don't get to chose whom we love."
