10 Best TV Shows That Never Won An Emmy

9. The Brady Bunch

The Brady Bunch is a bit of a strange one here. It’s one of the most recognisable shows in American sitcom history, with one of the most popular syndication runs of all time.

Though not as famous in Britain, it’s referenced so often that any Brit who watches even an average amount of television will know the gist of the show.

You’d think, then, that it would be littered with awards, but that’s not the case. Although it stood the test of time better than its contemporaries, it wasn’t massively popular initially.

It never even got nominated for an Emmy, or any major award in fact. The only documented awards it’s ever been up for are all nostalgic ones handed out decades after the show aired.

It has a similar story to the classic Jimmy Stewart film It’s A Wonderful Life. The Christmas movie bombed originally, but was cheap to show on TV so became a holiday tradition, and thus gained popularity.

Likewise, due to low viewing figures, the cheap syndication rights for The Brady Bunch saw it air frequently, which picked up new fans, which increased its popularity. Back in its original run though, it was getting nowhere near the award shows.
