10 Best TV Shows That Only Got One Season

6. Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip

When a studio pulls the plug on a show after one season, it's usually because it's not very good or it has low ratings. However, that wasn't the case with Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. The show received rave reviews due to Aaron Sorkin's snappy dialogue and charismatic characters portrayed wonderfully by Matthew Perry, Bradley Whitford, and a pre-fame Sarah Paulson.

The story revolves around two executives working behind-the-scenes on a sketch-comedy series similar to Saturday Night Live. If that story sounds identical to 30 Rock, that's the problem. Not only did both shows have the same premise, they came out the same year. Most people believe Studio 60 was dropped because it had low ratings. Ironically, it had higher ratings than 30 Rock. So, it had better reviews AND higher ratings but it still got cancelled?! Why?

And the answer is very simple; money. Since Studio 60 had a much higher budget, the studio decided it was in their best interest to only have one behind-the-scenes comedy show on their channel and went with the cheaper one, 30 Rock.
