10 Best TV Shows That Only Got One Season

5. Clone High

MTV

Clone High takes place in a college filled with clones of history's greatest thinkers including Abe Lincoln, Gandhi, JFK, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, and Julius Caesar. Clone High is one of those ideas which sounds amazing in paper but is difficult to execute well.

Luckily, the show had an awesome writing team; Bill Lawrence (who wrote Scrubs) and Phil Lord and Chris Miller (who went on to write The Lego Movie and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse). The trio were a perfect comedy team and turned the show an instant hit.

Despite the fact the writers planned five seasons and ended the first season on a cliffhanger, MTV ended the show. Why would the studio abruptly cancel the series after a measly 13 episodes?

In a word; Gandhi. Gandhi is depicted on the show as a party-animal, which infuriated the people of India. When hundreds of Indians responded by going on hunger strike, MTV didn't want to risk a scandal and thought it would be safer to end the show then and there. Although the writers wrote an episode which revealed that "Gandhi" was not actually a clone of The Mahatma, it was too little too late.
