10 Best TV Shows That Were Never Made

2. Lookwell Was The Next Police Squad!

Heat Vision Jack Black
NBC

Like Heat Vision, Lookwell gained a lot of traction after appearing online and in the "Brilliant but Cancelled" collection. Also like Heat Vision, it was birthed by two writers who clearly grew up on 70s Network Television - in this case writers Conan O'Brien and Robert Smigel.

Lookwell finds an aging Adam West - used before Family Guy ever got turned on to the idea of keeping him around for a laugh - as a former TV star who had a show decades ago in which he played hard-boiled L.A. cop, but now teaches an actor's workshop. His instincts from the show, however, kick back in gear and with the help of his students, he solves a ring of stolen luxury cars.

It was a favourite of NBC Network Chairman Brandon Tartikoff, but by the time it came to optioning the show, he was replaced by Warren Littlefield. Smigel chalks up the failure of the show to the change in leadership. He still runs live screenings of the episode at festivals and to the day he died, West said it was his favourite project that didn't work out.

Kenny Hedges is carbon-based. So I suppose a simple top 5 in no order will do: Halloween, Crimes and Misdemeanors, L.A. Confidential, Billy Liar, Blow Out He has his own website - thefilmreal.com - and is always looking for new writers with differing views to broaden the discussion.
