10 Best TV Sitcom Pilot Episodes

8. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

Friends pilot Ross Rachel
FX

When your first episode is titled 'The Gang Gets Racist', it's safe to say that you're setting out your stall pretty early on for what your show is going to be like.

While Always Sunny would only improve as the seasons went on - and especially once Danny DeVito was added to the cast - the pilot was still a great example of how outrageous this show would be. In the first episode alone, the show deals with issues of racism and homophobia and outlines just how awful the attitudes of the gang actually are in no uncertain terms.

A perfect introduction to the bizarre characters of the series, the show's great satire of stereotypes, its dense plots and its distinctive humour, Always Sunny is hilarious from its very first seconds.
