7. The Office (UK)
Although its American counterpart took a while to hit its stride, the original UK version of The Office was phenomenal from its very first episode.
The mockumentary which took cringe comedy to a whole new level, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant did a great job of introducing us to embarrassing boss David Brent and the way in which he introduces Ricky to the staff of Wernham-Hogg was horribly familiar to anyone who has ever had a socially awkward boss.
'Downsize' also sets the stage for the connection between Tim and Dawn, as well as the prank-filled dynamic between Tim and Gareth. The final scene where David awkwardly pretends to fire Dawn let us know without doubt that while hilarious, this show was going to be an excrutiatingly funny watch too.
