2. The Flashpoint Paradox
During the first season finale of The Flash, it was teased that Barry would go back and prevent his mother from being killed and create an alternate timeline (known as Flashpoint in the comics). When it did not happen, fans began to wonder when or if it would.
They would not have to wait long as Barry made the impulsive choice to change the past in the following second season finale. By preventing Eobard from killing his mother, he changed his fate and created a new world where his parents were alive and Wally West was Kid Flash.
Only lasting one episode, this alternate reality featured a showdown between Wally and The Rival that ended in Kid Flash’s death. Using Wally’s murder as his motivation, Barry was able to reset the timeline to what it used to be (kind of), with several small changes that impacted the lives of everyone of Team Flash.
Fortunately, Flashpoint did not end with the season premiere. The alternate timeline seems to have released both Savitar and his acolyte, Alchemy, into the Arrowverse. His tampering with the timeline also drew some unwanted attention from the Dominators. With more unforeseen effects to come, fans can expect Barry’s selfish decision to continue to cause more heartache and pain as the season moves forward.
