2. Rachel Was Supposed To Die In Childbirth
If you watched the later seasons of Friends as they aired, you'll probably remember the persistent rumours that Rachel was going to die in childbirth at the end of the show's eighth season.
This of course didn't happen, though many remain convinced that, at some stage, the original plan was for Rachel to die, leaving Ross to care for their daughter Emma by himself.
An NBC spokesperson flatly denied the prospect back in 2002 on the eve of the season eight finale, though of course, fans and critics were right to be skeptical at the time, given the network's vested interest in playing their cards close to the chest.
In retrospect, though, it's clear they were simply swatting down the prospect of Friends taking an excessively tragic, melodramatic detour as it began to wind down.
Though rumours swirled at the time that NBC had shot three endings for season eight, there's been no evidence of this whatsoever over the last near-two decades. The simplest answer is clearly the right one here.
