10 Biggest Missed Opportunities In TV History

9. The Scrapped Friends/Seinfeld Crossover

The Walking Dead

There's no denying that Friends and Seinfeld were the sitcoms of the 1990s, and as such, a crossover event which saw each series' characters appear in the other show would've been absolutely huge.

And get this, with both shows airing on NBC, it actually almost happened.

When both sitcoms were at the peak of their popularity in the mid-to-late '90s, the network seriously considered a crossover night where Friends characters would appear in Seinfeld and vice versa, effectively confirming them to exist within the same continuity.

But according to former Seinfeld writer Peter Mehlman, the ambitious and appealing idea was ultimately given the kibosh by Seinfeld creator Larry David himself.

David had no interest in a crossover, though Melhman apparently almost persuaded him by suggesting they agree to it, only to kill off Ross on their episode - something NBC presumably would've vetoed anyway.

All the same, this would've been one of the most legendary TV crossovers of all time - seeing Seinfeld's signature cynicism injected into the broader, more upbeat world of Friends would've been one hell of a sight.
