10 Biggest Rick & Morty Controversies

As an animated show, it's a lot easier to include mindless amounts of gore than if it featured real life actors. This is something Rick and Morty takes advantage of quite often. However, despite the show's adult rating, the amount of violence is still a source of contention amongst viewers.

It's a story we have grown accustomed to, but seems to rear its head with every new TV series or video game. The 'won't someone think of the children' crowd seem to go out of their way to try and tarnish the reputation of shows like Rick and Morty, despite having no interest in the subject matter.

Yet, as the show progressed, even avid fans of the show were starting to question just how much was too much. As season three promised " the darkest year of our adventures" during one of Rick's famous rants, conversations about the over-use of violence began to crop up on message boards.

The criticism mainly focused on the seminal Pickle Rick episode, in which Rick spends a lot of time fighting animals and humans alike. The abundance of gore and violence in the episode made for uncomfortable viewing amongst more squeamish fans.
