10 Biggest Unanswered Star Trek Mysteries

2. The Origin Of The Borg

No matter what future Trek shows we get, or whoever gets to write them, one rule they should all have is simply; don't ever explain The Borg. The franchises most terrifying (if not most iconic) enemy has remained so for decades now because there is so much about them that is simply unknowable.

First introduced in The Next Generation as a way for Q to prove that humanity was nowhere near ready for what was out there, they've since become one of the most important parts of Star Trek mythology. A galaxy-spanning collective of bionic and cybernetic drones, driven by a singular purpose, and speaking with a singular voice.

That's still about all we know of them though. Non-canon origin stories and even one V'Ger-related theory aside, those responsible for shaping Star Trek lore have smartly steered clear of spoiling the mystery. Thus, for the foreseeable, it remains.
