1. Guinan And Q

Arguably the two most mysterious characters ever to appear on Star Trek, Guinan and Q had a history centuries before their paths crossed on the Enterprise. The former, serving now as the ship's bartender, was an El-Aurian refugee who arrived into the Federation's open arms after the Borg destroyed her homeworld. The latter, a being of near total-omnipotence, just used to like winding Picard up.

However in Season 2 of The Next Generation, a chance encounter between the two in Ten Forward sees the renewal of storied hostilities. Both adopting defensive postures, snarling like startled cats, and Q himself offering the following comment.

Picard, if you had half the sense you pretend to have, you would get her off your ship immediately. And if you like, I'd be more than pleased to expedite her departure. This creature is not what she appears to be. She's an imp, and where she goes, trouble always follows.
