3. Happy Ever After
True Blood delivered seven seasons filled with action, drama, sex, bloood, violence, and often a whole lot of misery for Sookie and the other residents of Bon Temps. It wasn’t clear how exactly the show was going to end, but it never seemed likely that it would go out on a total high. Sookie deserved a happy ending, but what exactly would that entail?
As for the rest of them, anything could happen.
It decided to subvert all expectations. The final moments of the show decided to flash forward one year in the future, with Bill’s death now well in the past. Jessica is happily married to Hoyt, while Jason is with the ex-girlfriend of Hoyt and has produced kids at an alarming rate. So who is Sookie with, given all the relationships she’s been through? Eric? Alcide? Bill, somehow?
No, it’s an unknown man we only get to see the back of, while Sookie is heavily pregnant. Her and everyone else get the ‘happily ever after’ treatment, which is fine for some shows, but doesn’t really seem to fit with the world that True Blood had created.
Still, Pam and Eric found a very good use for Sara Newlin, so at least there was that.
