10 Book Series That Would Make Great TV Shows

4. The Peter Grant Series By Ben Aaronovitch

zenoagency.comzenoagency.comA fairly recently series written by former Doctor Who scribe Ben Aaronovitch (he wrote Rememberance Of The Daleks and Battlefield, Whovians) this series can is best described as Harry Potter meets The Bill. An decidedly average police cadet discovers he has latent magical abilities on his last day in the academy and find himself drafted into a secret branch of The Metropolitan Police that deals with the supernatural, his new boss a possibly centuries old wizard named Thomas Nightingale. Aaronovitch strikes a good balance between the magical elements and the police procedural aspect of the series, as Peter battles evil mages, exterminates vampire nests and negotiates with the goddesses of the many rivers of London. Peter Grant is described as a young upbeat mixed race guy and we think Noel Clarke would be perfect. Hell, he could even write a couple of episodes. As for Nightingale, we can't think of anyone better than Paul McGann. His ability to switch between knowledgeable (as Nightingale is about magic) and hopelessly behind the times (as Nightingale is with almost everything else) would compliment the character perfectly.
