10 Book Series That Would Make Great TV Shows

5. The Anno Dracula Series By Kim Newman

titanbooks.comtitanbooks.com Another slice of alternative Victorian London, this series is set after Bram Stoker's novel, but with a twist: Dracula kills Van Helsing, Quincy Morris and Jonathan Harker before absconding with Mina Harker to London. Once there, he literally bites his way up the chain of nobility, eventually turning Queen Vicky into his vampiric bride and becoming King of England. He quickly imposes a police state in a new Britain, where vampires now live freely out in the open among humans. The series itself uses that as the jumping off point but each novel is set in a different era: the first is a Victorian era murder mystery, the second a World War I adventure yarn, the third a Cold War era spy thriller and so on. We see all these events from the point of view of vampire secret agent Geneviève Dieudonné and her human partner Charles Beauregard of the Diogenes Club (yes, a Sherlock reference.) This era jumping would give each season a different feel whilst maintaining similar themes, something American Horror Story already accomplishes to great effect Our pick for Geneviève would be Audrey Tatou, as she'd strike the perfect balance of wisdom and beauty that defines the character, whilst we'd have Michael Fassbender as Charles Beauregard if we could pry him away from Hollywood.
