10 Buffy The Vampire Slayer Characters Killed Off At The Perfect Time

In the seventh and final season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, creatures called The Bringers begin hunting Potential Slayers in order to end the Slayer line and ease the way for the impending rise of the First Evil. Many surviving Potentials are sent to Buffy's home for protection. As the situation grows increasingly dire, Buffy begins training all her new charges in preparation for the First's arrival. Tragically, however, she cannot save them all.

For a few episodes, one Potential Slayer, Chloe, struggles to keep up in training. When she fails to show up for a meal one day, Buffy finds Chloe dead in her room, having committed suicide.

The First takes Chloe's form, taunting Buffy and the other Potentials over how it had driven Chloe to take her own life. Chloe's tragic death is a chilling hint at the kind of psychological warfare that The First is capable of, and comes at just the right time in the season to well and truly raise the stakes.
