10 Buffy The Vampire Slayer Moments That Shocked Us All

2. Flaying Warren - Villains (Season 6, Episode 20)

The Dark Willow saga is fairly divisive amongst fans for it's somewhat clunky execution, but there's no denying that it's a raucously entertaining divergence from the series usual end-of-season showdowns, and Dark Willow herself is an absolute badass.

Even as far back as season two, Willow's affinity for the dark arts was well seeded, and it all came a head when Tara was senselessly killed by a stray bullet that was intended for Buffy. Stricken with grief, Willow quickly relapsed into her magic addiction and became a real force to be reckoned with. Capable of astonishing magical feats that far eclipsed any of her previous abilities, she was quick to put her newfound magical prowess to good use and ensnared Warren in the woods.

As an audience, we certainly wanted to see Warren get his just desserts, but the manner in which he was executed was downright sadistic.

Keen to inflict suffering, Willow sewed his mouth shut before telepathically making a bullet dig its way into his chest, causing him untold amounts of pain. Despite Warren's pleas, Willow showed no mercy when she said the iconic phase "Bored now..." and flayed him alive.

It was dark, brutal and shocking, but we were all secretly cheering.
